07-11-02 Oops. I haven't updated like I said I would. Maybe one of these days I wlll. Somthing bad happed to the truck in March. I was getting it ready for the car shows, so I took out the engine to freshin it up with a new coat of paint etc. I took the right valve cover off and saw a rocker dangling. So ofcourse I decided to investigate. I took the header off and saw water in the exhaust port. Then when I took the head off and the lifter out, the lifter was ground down and the cam was flat. I had no idea anything was wrong. It never made any knocking noises, and still felt like it was running like a champ. And I am guessing the lifter failing cracked the head or somthing like that. I looked at this as a good thing. First thing I did was take the pistons to the machine ship to have the dome flattened out and rebalanced. Second thing I did was hog out the 68 CJ heads I bought off ebay. Those heads did 2 things. With the smaller combustion chamber and the now flat top pistons, I am running 11.5-1 compression. I was also able to put roller rockers on now since the heads are studded. As for the cam I put in a Crane Cam solid lifter. In which i got a little more duration and lift. All this led to a BIG improvement in bhp, or feels like it anyway. As the summer temps started coming (100F) the truck was wanting to start running a little hot. 185F going down the high way at 65, and a little over 225F while in traffic. I decided I would try and give a aluminium raidator a shot($325 off ebay). It was worth it. Dropped the high way to 160F. And the Sitting in traffic to around 195-200F. I plan on tubbing it out late this summer, but as of now I am trying to fix up another truck of mine (78 f150) for a daily driver. I took the audio I had in the 87 and put into the 78. I think that is all for now. I will post pics sometime in the near future, but they will not be thumbnailed. So it will take a long time for the pics to load. I think that is all for now....
12-8-01- For those of you who visit(all 2 of you), I am sorry for the lack of updating. Being in school, having a g/f, and working on my truck gives me little time to update the site. I hope within a few weeks I get the site up to date and do some improvements. I have much to show and tell about. I have ofcourse, already built the engine, put it in the truck, and been driving it for a few months. I lowerd it as a b-day present from my parents and managed to put in a set of 3.55 gears(2.73 orginal). I also built me a cowl induction hood, since I couldnt find a fiberglass hood(anyone that knows where to get one, write it in the message forum please). I will at the bottom of this page put a "to do" list. Thats it for now.....
